Case Study: Minnesota

iMapAmerica partnered with Minnesota’s PACER Center (PACER) to provide mapping, technology and support services to their Project C3.

Project C3, Connecting Youth to Communities and Careers, is a unique partnership between PACER Center, Pathways to Employment, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), the Minnesota Department of Education, and other state and local organizations.

The goal of the project is to improve employment and postsecondary outcomes for youth with disabilities.

Project C3 activities include:

  • Training parents and professionals on services available to youth and organizations on strategies to serve youth with disabilities.
  • Training youth on emerging responsibilities as adults and in becoming self-advocates.
  • Creating “Communities of Practice” at project pilot sites (Minneapolis, Ramsey County, and Central, South Central, Southeastern, and Northeastern Minnesota) to improve coordination of local level transition services.
  • Recommending changes in public policy to improve outcomes for youth with disabilities.

iMapAmerica provided PACER with a Mapping Curriculum, a data entry tool and a web portal with increased functionality to replace their previous website.  PACER was iMapAmerica’s first statewide partner and played a significant role in the shaping of the current ilivehere.info site and the Mapping Tools.

iMapAmerica created two websites for PACER, c3.ilivehere.info and mnparentcenter.ilivehere.info.  These sites are the premier directories for information on youth resources throughout the State of Minnesota.  The sites contain information on over 3,000 youth resources and connect resource providers and stakeholders throughout the state.
